Up until 1948 the post of President and Chairman were separate. However, the post of Chairman seemed to be elected at each meeting and was not listed as a post in the list of Wessex DA officers. Most Chairpersons also served as President at the same time, and that is how they are listed here.
After 1948 the two posts were combined and the President was normally the chairman. At the same time the “three-year rule” was applied. This has never been formally written into the Constitution but has been rigidly observed ever since.
